Alex Florin FLORENȚA was appointed as Prosecutor General of the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice on 30th of March 2023. Previously, he held various managerial positions within the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism: Chief Prosecutor of the Section for combating organized crime and Chief Prosecutor of the Technical Department within the Central Structure (January 2021 - March 2023), Chief Prosecutor of the DIICOT - Timișoara Territorial Office (February 2016 - January 2021) and Chief Prosecutor of the DIICOT - Sibiu Territorial Office (September 2013 - February 2014). From these positions he coordinated the prosecution activity in complex cases of organized crime, trafficking in human beings, drug trafficking, cybercrime and economic criminality. |

From August 2015 to February 2016, he was a prosecutor within the National Anticorruption Directorate - Timișoara Territorial Service, investigating complex cases of corruption affecting the EU's financial interests. From February 2010 to April 2012 he was a prosecutor within the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Sibiu Court and from August 2008 to February 2010 within the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Oradea Court, prosecuting economic and financial crimes and cases of serious violence. He has experience in the management of European funding projects, e.g. coordinator of the SNOW WHITE project - "Coordinated tackling of new trends in drug trafficking", co-funded by the European Commission, which ran from December 2018 to October 2022 and had as partners the Prosecutor's Office attached to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism, the Federal Prosecutor's Office of Belgium and the Criminal Investigation Bureau of the Lithuanian Police. Throughout his career he participated as an expert in numerous international training sessions and conferences in his areas of expertize, conducted by UNODC and EU-ACT, his language skills comprising English, Spanish and French. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Law of "Al. I. Cuza" University of Iași - class of 2002, of the National Institute of Magistracy (2006-2008), and holds a Master's degree in "Global Security Studies" at the West University of Timișoara (2017-2019). |
