THE RELATION WITH THE POLICE
 

The prosecutor is the holder of the criminal action, but the task of detecting offenses and of identifying their perpetrators rests with the police. According to art. 218 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, the prosecutor conducts and controls the criminal investigation activity of the police and of other bodies and supervises for the criminal investigation acts to be carried out in compliance with the legal provisions. The criminal investigation bodies are obliged to immediately inform the prosecutor about the crimes they have taken note of.
